Finding Social Media Icons

There are many sources for finding social media icons beyond a Google search. Try some of the options below to see which ones suit your site best!

Tip: Be sure you have permission to use a social media icon set before you put it on your site. Check to see if they are being sold, or if they are being offered for free. Some icons include a license file that will tell you if they are available for free use or for non-commercial sites only. If you can’t verify permission, don’t use it!

1. Pinterest

Pinterest Board

Pinterest is a great site both for finding icons and for inspiration in your site design. The results from a curation site like Pinterest tend to be better because they are hand-picked. I have created this social media icon board on Pinterest for my readers, but you can find many social media icons just by searching for them in Pinterest.

2. Iconfinder

Iconfinder

Iconfinder is a great site for searching for icons. Just type in the term you are looking for, such as "Twitter" or "Facebook", and click Search.

Tip: Many icons are part of a matching set. If you click on an icon you like, you can often find the matching icons below the one you clicked on.

If you can’t find what you were looking for at Iconfinder, you can also try:

3. Etsy

Etsy Social Media Icons

I have recently discovered that Etsy is a great place to find some very cute social media icons at very reasonable prices! Most icons are purchased through the Etsy/PayPal system and then delivered by e-mail from the seller within 24-48 hours.

Tip: Many of the sellers offer to customize the color of your icons to match your blog if you request it. If you like the style of a particular seller but not the icons offered, you might want to contact the seller to inquire about a custom job.

Here are some of my recent favorites from various sellers:

4. Web Pros

Mimosa Social Media Icons

Many web professionals, design-related magazine sites, and various other companies offer free social media icons for readers to download. These icons are offered to bring in traffic, and you can often use these icons freely for personal and commercial purposes as long as you don’t sell them.

Tip: If you use the icons, it would be nice to give the original site some linklove or credit for them!

Here are some examples you might like:

5. DeviantArt

DeviantArt Social Media

DeviantArt is a site where many talented artists post their creations, including social media icons that you can use like these 3D Black Button Social Media Icons and this Social Network Site Icon Set.

Tip: Be sure to check the license for the icons before downloading!
